Because these two options are tightly coupled with development processes related to the design phase/iteration of the project life cycle, detailed discussions of them will be taken up on Day 3. For now, suffice it to say that these options let you track the creation and destruction of objects at runtime, as well as trap and raise errors in each object's methods at runtime. Keep in mind that objects are runtime copies (or instances) of classes. |

The Help Menu is straightforward, enabling you to access information about the Class Builder utility. The toolbar contains buttons that are shortcuts to the operations already available in the menu. |

In the Properties, Methods, and Events pane on the right, you see an index tab control with four tabs: Properties, Methods, Events, and All. |

The Properties tab shows all the properties of the currently selected class (see Figure 1.6). With it, you can add, edit, and delete properties from the currently selected class. The container area is divided into four columns: Name, Data Type, Arguments, and Prop Declaration. The Name column shows the name of a given property in the class. The Data Type column shows the data type for each property. The Arguments column lists the arguments that the property method accepts (remember that properties in Visual Basic can be implemented as property methods). Finally, the Prop Declaration column indicates what type of operation the property method performs on the property. The Get type enables clients (other modules needing a value or service) to access the current value or object reference of the property. The Let type enables other modules to change the value of the property. The Set type is similar to the Let type, but other modules can change only the object reference (assuming the class property was declared as either Variant or Object). |

If you right-click anywhere in the tab container area, a pop-up menu will appear that gives you the ability to add a new property, delete a property, perform cut and copy operations, rename the property, and display the detailed specification of each property. |
